hey y'all.

We are Rogers and Astaire, only that we probably drink a lot more coffee and have a lot of unpredictable Scottish clouds and ashy Texas sage in us.

We travel a lot, so much so that we can't really keep up with all that on our blog, despite the frequent requests from people we love who ask "Just Where Are You?" We tried to do it through pictures but then our digital camera broke and unfortunately, we seem to like half broken cameras... like our growing collection of Russian 35mm cameras which don't do so well in documenting us regularly. Oh, in the movie The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Juliette Binoche takes pictures of tanks invading Prague with her "Praktica" camera—we have one of those!! The kinds of weird equipments you can get in Eastern Europe. Speaking of The Unbearable Lightness, that is indeed the inspiration for our website name and its meaning wanders off into all kinds of private associations for us. But we have lived in Prague and our marriage began there. (Btw, it's a really sophisticated movie, based on the famous novel by Czech writer Milan Kundera—although sad and disturbingly hard to watch in parts.)

But I can tell you that we like getting to know how God works in the world, and the more we travel the more we know about him. We hope that the love and understanding of God is what you hear when you arrive, because we like to listen to Him! To be the fullest, creative, wacky, complex expression of who we were made to be--and to help others grow into theirs--that is our life.

Our site was designed by Amy, and uses Big Medium and Movable Type to organize the content. Up till now, we've tried to keep our blog and our main website writings separate--but sometimes they merge. We just like a lot of media options, and sometimes find blogging isn't enough--it's just one metaphor, and we have many metaphors for the way we live and the things we think about.
